For many years, when the appraisal time comes, I would often take my time at the 'Strengths and Weaknesses' part of the appraisal form. I could swear that I would end up writing the same thing, especially in 'Weaknesses' column - Improve on leadership skills, or learn how to be a good leader...or improve on anger management. You see, people often say when being interviewed or during appraisal, you should be able to point out your weaknesses in a good way. Kiranya cakap pasal kelemahan (yang sedikit) and at the same time cakap berkobar2 on how you are going to improve that weaknesses, get it? *rolling eyes*
Leadership yg aku nak ckp bukan pasal jadi boss (saya bukan boss yer). If you are a Senior Exec, then you are 'leading' your Executives..if you are Executives, then you are 'leading' your Assistants. Susah nak jadi leader ni, you are a boss and at the same time you tak nak jadi too bossy. I personally think that to be a successful leader, you have got to have a good supporting system/staffs. And the very reason aku selalu tulis pasal to improve on leadership in that 'weakness' column is aku selalu rasa that I cannot be a good leader. Di tempat sebelum ini (syhhhh), aku tak rasa aku dpt support yang sepatutnya. Tapi takpe, I've learnt.
Tempat sekarang, agak comfortable in the sense of leading. Supportnya ada. And I'm learning new things. Learning how to balance leadership vs leader'shit'. But it's a never ending battle actually..trying to be cool but at the same time getting the respect, trying to be friendly and at the same time ensuring they don't take advantage of your friendliness, trying to be more stern and at the same time not annoying people.
I guess it will all be reflected in the appraisal nanti. Anyway, korang jenis sgt defensive tak masa appraisal? Ke redha jek sbb tahu hasilnya nanti sama je?
Will talk about my tonsil removal plans in my next post nanti. Take care eh!
